About Bramblebrae Cotta ge
Built in 2009 and opening to visitors in August, Bramblebrae Cottage is a brand new, purposely designed self catering holiday house.
Part of the family run Balgownie Mains Farm the house lies one mile north of the historic Royal Burgh of Culross.
The Dalgleish family have been farming Balgownie Mains for over twenty five years. The farm is a 300 acre mixed dairy farm milking 120 cows twice a day. Visitors are welcome to tour the farm and watch the milking. Throughout the year there are many different activities going on from calving in the winter to harvest in the summer.
With its own paddock and built-in garage and surrounded by countryside and forests Bramblebrae Cottage is perfect for horse-riders, walkers and cyclists.
Bramblebrae Cottage is suitable for the assisted disabled with few steps, room for wheelchairs and a family bathroom with no-step shower cubicle.
For motor sports enthusiasts we are only a few miles from the Knockhill Racing Circuit.
How to spend your days
It’s your holiday, you can spend your days however you like but here are a few suggestions:
You could:
- Do nothing - just sit on the veranda or in the garden gazing at the beautiful Fife countryside. Or if the weather’s wet or cold you can sit inside and cosy up to the multi-fuel stove in the living room and look through the big picture windows.

- If you brought your own horses you could saddle them up in the cottage’s own paddock and go riding along the adjacent bridleways which will take you through Devilla forest.
- Or you could take your bicycle out of the cottage’s built-in garage and take off along the West Fife Cycleway which runs just a few yards away.

- You could stroll down a quiet country lane to the historic Royal Burgh of Culross and explore its narrow cobbled streets and visit its famous palace and Town House. While you’re there why not eat at the renowned Red Lion Inn?

- If Culross has whetted your taste for history it’s less than an hour to the historic Scottish cities of Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth or Dunfermline.
